Two troubled lands where film is now bringing hope

Iran and Ukraine usually make headlines because of internal or surrounding turmoil, but the arts are bringing hope to the people affected by the conflict. Sarah Carabott spoke to three individuals who are raising awareness about social issues through filmmaking.

If films were made about the effects of war, there would be less people who would resort to conflict, according to Iranian film director Mansour Forouzesh.

“Cinema could bring peace in some countries, such as the Middle East. Through film we could expose the social consequences of conflict, such as immigration, the realities of injured and homeless people and the results of chemical bombing.

US, Spain to host Iran’s The Hose – Mehrnews

TEHRAN, Apr. 19 (MNA) – Iranian short film The Hose will be screeییییned at two film festivals in US and Spain.

Iranian short film The Hose directed by Mansour Forouzesh will be screened at two international film festivals in US and Spain.

The film has experienced several international events. It was earlier screened at New Directors/New Films Festival in Portugal and 7th CMS International Children’s Film Festival in India. It was also nominated for Best Short Film at an International Short Film Festival in India.

The Hose, in its new experience, will be screened in Three Cities Fest which will be held in three US cities of Los Angeles, New York and Santo Domingo on May 16-29 and also at another international film festival in Spain which is due on July 11-16.

The Hose is a 14-minute movie narrating the story of punishing a dumb child. Produced and directed by Forouzesh in 2014, it stars Sirous Hemmati and Kasra Jourablou.
